Do I need a visa to travel to South Africa?

As a full UK passport holder (with a passport valid for six months beyond your entry date) you are not required to have a Visa to enter South Africa. You are granted a Visitors Temporary Permit on arrival which is valid for a period of up to three months

 

Do I need to take Malaria tablets?

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by a parasite transmitted by mosquitoes. Symptoms are typically flu-like and include symptoms like fevers, headaches, nausea and aching limbs. It is widespread in tropical and subtropical regions, including much of sub-Saharan Africa

but with large exceptions of most of South Africa and Namibia

When travelling to the majority of our lodges and boutique hotels, taking Malaria tablets is therefore not required. however, when travelling into the Kruger National Park for Safari, it is recommended.

Do I need to use tick repellents whilst out in the bush?

If there is any specific tick repellent that you know of, you are welcome to bring it along.

However most lodges do provide several forms of tick repellent

Tipping

A general rule of thumb on safari is to tip your guide GBP10 and your tracker GBP5 per person per day. This tip is given at the end of the safari, not on a daily basis. This amount can be adapted according to the number of people on the safari, and a 'per day per car' amount may be more suitable for bigger parties

However, it is important to note that a gratuity is not expected by staff but rather a gesture to individuals who have made your stay memorable.
